Gift card sticker design for Walk On the Moon (2020)
In August, 2020, I was hired to format and design text for a gift card to Walk On the Moon, a local handmade jewelry shop. At the request of my client, the design was to be sent out and printed as a holographic sticker;
Design Specs
• "Some Girls are born with glitter in their veins" was the main text that needed to be prominently displayed on the card; "Walk On the Moon Gift Card" needed to be placed underneath in a smaller text size
• The client did not have a logo or any brand guidelines to follow, but requested that a crescent moon and the color purple be featured as to remain consistent with previously created marketing materials that implemented these design assets to distinguish the brand

• The sticker needed to be able to fit on to 2"x3" black card stock in a heart-shaped format, which became a challenge when trying to seamlessly integrate the crescent moon shape with the rest of the text
• The client did not have a specific style in mind but requested that the design leaned more minimal and modern with a feminine touch

After first attempting to incorporate a glitter motif as a dreamy backdrop for the moon and text, my client and I determined that it made the design too busy and made it harder to fit everything on to the intended heart-shaped base. This was a sort of setback as I was unsure how to prominently include the color purple without it getting lost against the black background, as showing in the first early drafts of the design. The initial design of the moon was mostly consistent throughout all drafts.

Final Product
After careful discussion with my client, they determined that they liked pale-yellows from the original crescent moon. This lead to me incorporating the color purple as more of an accent, which I used to outline and highlight the graphics surrounding the text. Utilizing type hierarchy, the final design fits and fills out the heart-shaped base, and stands out against the black in white, bold and defined fonts.
